Simply Delightful was founded in 2004 by Chef Russell Morgan, whose passion for cooking sparked an idea that became an instant success. He began by taking pre-orders for breakfast and lunch, personally preparing and delivering meals to local barbershops, hair salons, and car dealerships. He also provided weekly meal prep services to his most loyal customers, ensuring they always had access to fresh, home-cooked meals.

As word spread about his flavorful dishes and exceptional service, Simply Delightful quickly became a household name. The demand for his food led to an expansion into catering, and in 2010, Chef Russell opened Simply Delightful Soul Food & Catering in Suitland, Maryland. While managing the daily dine-in and takeout operations, he continued to cater events, bringing his signature soul food to special occasions across the region.

His hard work and dedication paid off—Simply Delightful was nominated four years in a row (2013-2016) for a nationally recognized Neighborhood Award for Best Soul Food, and winning the award in 2014. The restaurant even gained media attention, being featured on Fox 5 News for the popular series "Will You Eat There?".

Despite its success, Simply Delightful Soul Food & Catering closed its doors in 2017 due to economic challenges. However, Chef Russell's love for cooking never faded. His passion remained, and in 2025, he set out on a mission to bring back the flavors his community loved.

Today, he proudly introduces Simply 2 Delightful—a sequel to the original Simply Delightful brand. Holding true to its roots while embracing a new chapter, Simply 2 Delightful Soul Food & Catering continues to serve heartwarming, flavorful dishes that bring people together.

At the heart of our kitchen is Chef Russell, whose dedication to quality and tradition shines through in every meal. Guided by his motto:

"I love what I do, and so will you!"

He ensures that each dish is crafted with care, flavor, and soul. Whether catering a special event or serving up a comforting plate of soul food, Simply 2 Delightful is here to bring joy—one meal at a time.
